I am hopeful I can receive some help with my problem. I am using XP SP2.

When I go to start menu and click on My Computer, then click on C: drive, I
get a ActiveMovie Window that comes up blank and then I get an Windows
Explorer error which causes everything to close and send me back to my
desktop. I have tried numerous times to send the error report into Micrsoft.

Any idea or other information needed?

Thanks

It sounds like you have an autorun.inf file in the root of C: Open a MS-Dos
prompt window, and at the prompt type "C:" <no quotes> , then type "DIR".
This should list the files in the C: root. If the autorun is there, type "del
autorun.inf" to remove the file.

When I open a ms dos prompt and type C:, the prompt doesn't change from the
default of c:\documents and settings\william

Also, I see no autorun file in this dir.

ALso, I am not sure I am accessing the ms dos window properly. I am just
using the run command and typing in either cmd or command. These 2 give me
different prompts. cmd gives me the document and settings one and command
gives me C:\DOCUME`1\William>

thanks for your help

The dos prompt i get is:

C:\Documents and Settings\william>

It does not change by simply typing C: and hitting enter.

Are you opening 'command prompt'? start---all
programs---accessories---command prompt? What is make of your computer?
Windows version?

Yes, I am opening 'command prompt' just as you have stated. I am using
windows xp sp2 as stated in my original post. I dont see what difference the
make of my computer makes but it is an ABS system.

I have looked at the listed DIR for C: drive and there is no autorun.inf file
listed.

Any other assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
