Hi all,
On these NGs who have something sensible, constructive and informative to
say. To you ......... FANTASTIC PEOPLE ....... GREAT !! Keep up the good work.
Alas ! The Trolls have found what was a very pleaseant, well informed NG
consisting of a family of IT and home user professionals/enthusiasts whos
common denominator has been, until now, one of sharing knowledge between the
informed and the not so well informed and promoting WD.
Sadly this image has been tarnished by the recent intrusion of alien sources
`hell bent` on spoiling the family environment which has existed on here for
some time now.
That said. From my personnel experiences. The form of approach is to ignore
any comment and I know we are only human - most of us. If we really feel a
need, we should only respond by indirectly addressing the person responsible
for the post. That is, we talk among ourselves while not directly responding
to the person who originally made the inflamitory post. Never reply directly.
As Tim commented - `never feed the Troll.` Hard to do for most of us -
particularly when directly targeted. You have to remember these people
usualy fall into two categories:
1. Those of `low self esteem` who attempt to provoke some form of infantile
comment - born of those who envy the knowledge of the good people on here who
possess the knowledge which they, themselves, would dearly like to possess..
2. Silly `High school kids` with time on their hands who are full of `Vodka`
and a can of `Red Bull`. They may even be sharing a `Magic Mushroom` between
them while their Mummies and Daddies are hard at work..
I sincerely hope the latter scenario is the case. At least this can be
treated with tolerance and understanding.
