i got given a computer, after 12 months and many downloads my kids have
mananged to get a trojan on it. i have tried doing what my knowledge will let
me do, with no success. it has taken away dll files and every time i try
something i get a message up telling me i can't go any further. it has taken
away my internet connection, so i can't go any where for support. there is no
back disc made although it came with windows xp on and the sticker is on the
back of the tower. the only thing i can think to do is reformat. two
questions what do i type in dos to reformat, i use to know but that was many
moons ago. also will the xp that is on the machine still try and reinstall
its self. i am not worried about what i lose it is only the kids computer,
with probablyloads of rubbish on it. help needed i have been at this for two
days now, my knowledge isn't as good as i thought it was.
this is so long i thank anybody who has read it all and can help me out.

1. Post further questions in an appropriate group (for Windows or general
help) like:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support

2. Take the kids computer to a competent repair shop, with your Windows
distribution media, and ask them to format your hard drive and reinstall
your OS, along with some decent anti-virus and anti-malware software.

Post your message to a group with "windows" in the description. This is a
..Net Programming newsgroup.
