The voice of "x x" drifted in on the cyber-winds,
from the sea of virtual chaos...
i have a virus on my computer that my AVG free edition doesn't
seem to be able to get rid of. Its called a keenval.a keenval.b
and keenval.c downloader virus. Any help would be much appreciated
That's because it is not a virus...
No wait it is a virus...
Err... It's a Trojan?
Symantec pegs this one as Adware so I'm inclined to believe them:
http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/adware.keenval.html
Exert: "Adware.Keenval is an adware program that redirects
the browser to portal sites, which may download more adware."
While others sites, like forum sites, say it's a Trojan...
Ether way, I've seen at least two entries said Grisoft's AVG detect it,
so try updating your viral deffs first. Ironically, it's critters like
Keenval that show how quickly the boundaries between Virus & Adware are
dissolving... How to remove?
- Update the definitions.
- Restart the computer in Safe mode.
- Uninstall KeenValue using the Add/Remove Programs utility.
- Run a full system scan and delete all the files detected as "Keenval".
- Delete the value that was added to the registry.
- Delete other files used by this Adware.
