"Grisoft also offers AVG 6.0 Free Edition, which lacks some features,
such as scan scheduling and product support, though it has a simpler
interface. But since AVG missed six viruses on our Virus Detection
test and had seven false positives, even the free version isn't worth
the price."

June 11, 2002 It is so far out of date that the article belongs in the

Then, I *strongly* suggest you use AVG to protect your most expensive
pc systems.
Btw, here's another 2003 review you may like better:

Although the file Jb61.exe appears to be harmless (trojanhunter also
finds no trojans) i wonder why that file cannot be scanned by tds3? or
viewed with notepad? even though its archive

7:23:00 [File Scan] Scanning file C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\test\Jb61.exe
17:23:00 [Locked File] Couldn't open c:\windows\desktop\test\jb61.exe for
read access, file is locked

There are ways to get around jboot's password protection, but I guess
one of them isn't scannimg or viewing jb61.exe with notepad for the
logon password.

Thanks for reply.Im not sure what you mean. The file before execution has
some sort of protection?.If it has its the first .exe file ive been
unable to view with notepad or string extract or scan with tds3.It seems
strange though that if the .exe file has some sort of protection that
just by renaming it to a txt file allows it to be opened with note pad
and scanned with tds3.
