I have detected 8!!! virusis on my system, anti-v software
won't touch it. Should I re-format and start over. how?!

What AV?
What is the exact message the AV gives?
What Trojan/virus?

Search for the virus here to receive poroper removal directions:
http://www.symantec.com/search/

It ith virus in System Restore (System Volume Information)?
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

the av IS Symantec, and all of the trojans are in C:, I
looked at restore points, and they only let me go back a
few weeks. will turning off sys restore solve this
problems? thanks for your help:)

I had 14, and my antivirus fixed 13. I stripped and sent
the last one to Norton for analysis. Are your virus
definitions current? I didn`t have to reformat. In fact,
I bought Norton 2003 for $15.00, and it pretty much fixed
everything. Update your vuirus definitions, and then scan
again, and you should be ok.

Chuck;
If the virus is in System Volume Information, turning System Restore
Off/On will take care of it.

The verion was current, freshly updated. The av would not
report the viruses, it said they had did not qualify for
analysis. wo is me.
