What happens when you try to open IE and are you using any proper anti-virus software? MBAM is more something you'd use in combination with AV software.
First of all, I'd recommend a scan using this online scanner : http://housecall.trendmicro.com
Them, download an AV such as http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ if you don't already have AV software.
