Plun your not right about this but will explain later as

takes out certain variants of IST BAR and the Backweb
Client isnt always adware but i appreciate your comments
and did advise that she use adaware, spybot and a couple
of other programs and now im replying with full removal
just in case its needed

Regards

Andy

remember to boot into Safe Mode when doing some of your
spyware removal. It helps :-)

Also look at the Symantec website for instructions and
utilities to remove specific threats.

Hi Again

The thing is plun you have to look between the lines one
adware signature doesnt mean its a sure fix as alot of
the time half this crap comes from trojan
downloaders. This is the case here,She has nearly 50
faults showing on trend Housecall but then the program
shuts down,IST comes in many variants and adds other
parasites such as DownloadPlus/RapidBlaster and Tinybar
(which in turn adds DOS Attacks,Search Hijackers and Host
File Hijackers)even Spybot can only remove 2 of these
variants and there is about 6 or more.WindUpdates is a
trojan downloader

(Adaware afar as i know doesnt deal with Trojans)

Read my earlier posted link about Adawares signatures.
Of course Adaware handles AD Trojans !

Housecall is having problems too so ive advise corrupting
the trojan file by changing it to a text file rather than
a executable and typing nonsense through it then kill the
process in task manager and straight away save the
corrupted text file or else it just keeps coming back for
more this can be done with the WinKA.exe and WinUpdt.exe
files then it can all be removed easily. The other
problems i have advised spybot and adaware like i already
said before and avert stinger,Trends housecall,Trends
Damage Clean up tool,CWShredder,Ccleaner etc.. to remove
all the possible malware before restoring the hosts file
and resetting the zones plus resetting web settings etc..

I do not believe adaware will do all this automatically
but you obviously have different views on this which is
what these forums are about to share our views on
different matters.

Of course, everything is needed, from what she wrote it
was easy to see that this was a really messed up PC.

So my standard in messed up system is:

- Viruscheck with an online scanner.

- CCleaner

- Adaware

-(Spybot)

This follows "good practise" standard from every modern
board forum. Look at these really "high standard" forums.

http://www.merijn.org/forums.html

You have a german forum, Spybots with really high
standards to help users but also what a user must do.

http://forums.net-integration.net/index.php?

But this is maybe "mission impossible" for MS to
accomplish..... ?

IMHO ;)

Joker....... ;)
Also look at the Symantec website for instructions and
utilities to remove specific threats.

I have found out that most users can´t search themselves
fore some reasons.......

www.google.com

Just to put in the word "spyware" after infection name.

;)

I guess we are all parrots in our own way.

Hope this explains my frustration with your continual
comment of "Run adaware as that does everything"

Well, I now understand this, Kimberly also wrote to
*.install group where I answered with this:

Hi

Startpoint, Housecall
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Then download/install/run Ccleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Then download/install/run Adware
http://www.download.com/3101-2001_4-0-1.html?tag=dir

You can alos try to restart in safe mode and scan with
MSAS.
-------------------------------------------------------

Then she mailed me about this, and of course Adware can´t
handle all of this junk therefore Housecall ;)

She wrote that her PC is clean now and the only thing left
is HPs Backweb application. Spyware ...... ;)
