Trimming the Size of My PST

Since upgrading to OL 2003, my PST has grown tremendously. I used to have a PST that was around 35 Mb. Today it's 142 Mb.

I understand that Unicode is involved and that's the reason for the increase. However, today I created a new PST file to be compatible with OL 2000, 2002. I then "imported" data into the new file. It grew to 152 Mb.

While OL 2003 is running great (except for the custom forms), I'm concerned about the "fat." Is there another way of trimming the size of the PST? Did I take the wrong steps?

Thanks to all

The size is just fine - my unicode .pst file here is about 1.5 gigs and
running fine.

However, to your point. You can strip attachments, empty the deleted items
folder, archive items (especially the sent items) to reduce the size.
However, I would not worry at your .pst size. You may want to start
worrying if the .pst gets up to about a gig (ansi) and really get ruthless
about cleaning up your mail.

Thank you for the advise. You're right. Performance has not been an issue. And every year I "archive" and clean to start with a new PST. With previous versions of Outlook, once you went over 100 Mb, performance was a problem. But I must say, with Outlook 2003, it's been great

Thanks again
