Microsoft's antispyware is not preventing tribalfusion
from popping up. I ran a scan from XoftSpy and it found a
list of about 12 "minor annoyance" products on my PC.
Has Microsoft grown lax or do they have some special
arrangements with some of these companies?

Hi Dave

TribalFusion is a cookie and comes from online ad's and
no threat to you or your system, how do you mean it keeps
popping up ?

Microsoft already provide alot of features for
restricting and deleting cookies, Open a IE window then
goto tools on the top bar then to Internet Options then
press "Delete Cookies" another way is from the same page
goto the privacy tab then press advanced and block
cookies from there.

MS will probably include this feature into the scanner at
some stage but its not a threat to your system as they
are not code they are just strings of text and numbers. If
you delete cookies after using the net in the above way
how much does Xoftspy then find on your system ?

Xoftspy were on the rogue list for along time for
providing false positives saying the system's were
infected with dialers and coolwebsearch on the free scans
to make people buy the product when the system was
already clean, ripping of spybot & adaware by using there
names on search engines and started out by registering
through domains by proxy to hide thier real details so
they have a very suspect past and I wouldnt use them or
trust thier results.

They have cleaned up the company now and provide
registration details and do not give all the false
detections anymore but they only got in a position to do
that by tricking customers into paying them money so they
will always stay rogue in my view.

Id rather use MS Antispy anyday than removers who trick
people into buying thier products with false detections
and deceiving people by putting Spybot search and destroy
and Lavasofts Adaware names in search engines then the
links take you to Xoftspy's scanners,

You shouldn't be so fast to judge MS antispy, Ive thrown
alot of junk at it and it performs great removing some
very nasty infections without problems including password
stealers and trojan downloaders, Its not perfect yet but
its beta and even at this stage is already better than
most of its competition in my view and Im happy to be
involved in the beta testing.

Regards

Andy

They have a background that caused alot of concern with
false positives to get people to purchase the product when
the system was already clean, ripping off spybot/adaware's
name through search engines to trick people into going to
thier site thinking it was SpybotS&D or Lavasofts and
hiding thier true details by registering through domains
by proxy which is typical of rogue removers but I believe
they have now cleaned up thier act and are doing alot
better. For error messages you should contact them and see
if they can help you

Well Said Engel

Thanks for reposting my view, The error message reference
was for a different problem I replied to from Xoftspy but
its the same remover so I understand why you used it here
so he's got my opinion in two posts now ;o)

All the best

Andy
