Here is an article that may be a heads up to the next technology for inkjet
printers - triangular nozzles:

Curiously, the article claims that the smallest drop from circular nozzles
is 10 pl (picolitres). I thought Epson, HP, and Canon all claimed 2 pl
drops. What's up with that?

I think it would be fair to assume the "you cannot believe everything you read
on the internet". HP introduced cartridges with 10pL drops in about 1996, and
they have been shrinking since. All three of the manufacturers you list have
drop sizes less than half the claimed "smallest anyone has managed" and at
least two of the three have experimented with non-circular bores a half dozen
or more years ago.

Been there, done that.

Sounds like Fluid Dynamics problem
The round very tiny droplet passing thru' a triangular orifice will have
only 3 point contact less friction
