tray manager stoped working

the hide function on the tray manager has stoped working,
cusromize notificationsa is nopw locked and does not
allow me to chose actions. please help, me thanks, brian
 
In some cases, the MSKB will not do the trick. You have to end the
Explorer.exe process and then remove the IconStreams and PastIconsStream
values in Registry. Then, start a new explorer.exe process.

To automate the process, download the utility which Kelly suggested.

Reset the settings and then retry. See "How to Clear Past Items from
the Notification Area" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283084).
