Where's the system tray icon to show that this program is actually enabled at
startup? Whew 15 minutes in and already this program is miles behind it's
predecessor.

Windows Defender Live (Beta), help needed from Microsoft.
Except for the new download Signature Version 1.14.1314.1, all previous
versions have fallen into a loop to High Priority Definition Update
1.14.1314.1 for Beta Windows Defender (KB915597). The users of the Windows
OneCare Live (Beta) have downloaded automatically the file in excess of 54
times, as per the Update History, with no positive results. Previous results
of the Windows Defender (Beta) Definition Updates that worked are:
1.13.1276.3, 1.13.1272.4, 1.13.1276.16, 1.13.1282.6 and 1.13.1386.1 with KB
892519, 892519, 892519, 915597 and 915597 respectively. The loop failure
started when trying to update to 1.13.1288.5 and 1.13.1314.1 both with
KB915597, from older Signature Versions. Worst of all, no removal of the
Defender beta is possible nor installation of the newer 1314 version ontop of
the other.
Microsoft, please read also the many complains in the Discussion Groups Home

The main problem is that even though the real time protection is enabled and
I have that set to supposedly start at every boot, I do not use any auto
scanning or updating and so today after surfing for some time I decided to do
a scan and when clicking the Icon to activate it warned me that Defender was
not active. So without a tray icon to show activity or the fact that it is
indeed loaded at boot I now have to manually open the task manager to ensure
myself that it's doing it's job. Even though the predecessor Microsoft
AntiSpyware showed that I had added an entry to the startup for my MRU
cleaner, Defender shows nothing. So is it or isn't it working???? No real way
to tell I guess I'll have to go to a safe site to install an Active X control
and see if Defender does anything at all. So far this isn't an improvement
and is in fact a step back in many ways. TTFN.

Thank you for mentioning the Task Manager!!! I was having the same
non-showing icon issue, and I never would have thought of looking in the TM.
LOL, now my thoughts are why even bother having a tray icon if it's so easy
to check, it's easier than I thought!! Thanks!!
