Traveling with Laptop

I have a Dell Latitude laptop that I am going to take with me this winter.
What do I need to hook up to the internet if the motel has a data port? Thank

A network connector or card in the laptop, and a CAT5 cable to connect it.
Most motels have the CAT5 cable there, but I always carry my own in my
laptop case, just in case.
