Trashcan Error Message

For the better part of a year, I have been getting an error message whenever
I try and empty the trashcan. It ALWAYS says that there are 2 items in the
trash. Whenever I try and empty it, it gives me an error message saying:

"Cannot remove folder Alright, Still . . : Cannot find the specified file.
Make sure you specify the correct path and file name."

I know what and where these folders were, but they are no longer in
existence. I have tried reboots, using Norton SystemWorks, and recovering
the files, but nothing seems to work. I am currently using Windows XP SP 3.
Short of a reformat/reinstall, is there another way to eliminate this?

OK, assuming your question means you are willing to do a little work to
'fix' the error report, what you want is to start by running 'error
checking' on the drive (Rightclick the drive icon in explorer, properties,
tools tab, 'error checking'.) Once this is done, reboot, and check for your
error.
Next you want to 'repair the recycle bin', per this link's download:

Repair Recycle Bin -- see line #64 at right -- :

If no help, you will need to alter the 'permissions' of the file with a
third party utility like ccleaner

'CCleaner - Home' (http://www.ccleaner.com/)

Thanks for the reply. Sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you on
this.
I tried all three of the things you listed, but without success. I have
been using ccleaner for years. Any other options?

You could try the old trick of removing the Recycle.Bin folder from the list
of folders in Explorer, and restart.

Can't find the file. Where is it?
