Hi, I have been trying to install windows xp professional
AND home on my computer for a while now, and i can't seem
to be able to do it!
I have reformatted a few times, re-partitioned
everything, tried to load xp from a boot disk set, tried
using the fixboot and fixmbr commands from the xp repair
secion, and whenever i try to boot from the xp cd, i get
a general protection fault before the cd loads!
My computer supposedly is compatible, (its an old P3, 700
mhrz, 256 meg ram beast) and i am totally out of ideas...
i cant even do anything, because my comp just wont
install anything without these messages...

any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
-dave

Check with your motherboard's manufacturer for a BIOS update. I remember
that some older P3s need a BIOS upgrade before allowing XP to boot up
correctly.
