I need to move a movie maker project from one computer to another. Other than
the project file what do I need to "move" over to the next computer? I tried
to transport a project using my usb thumb drive, but when I open the project
on the next computer it doesn't show any of the "collections" or footage that
was in the project on the original computer. Any suggestions? Any
assistance is greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Andrew

you also need to move or have access to all the source files. think of the
project file as a "table of contents"... It doesn't do much good if you
don't have the book also. re-open the project file on the new computer,
right click on one of the source files with the big red X and click find
file, navigate to where you can access the file and you should be good to
go.

KDE,
The only choice close to "find file" that I see is a Browse to find
missing file... When I choose this it takes me to the "typical Windows"
search dialogue box. How would I know where to find these "source files."
Also, why would I search for these files on the new computer I am moving my
project to? Wouldn't those files still be located on the previous machine?
Isn't that why they aren't showing up? As you can tell I am totally
confused! Please help!

Unless the source files on the previous
computer could be accessed through a
network, you will have to transfer the source
files...images, videos, sound files, etc...
to the new machine.

Then you'll have to open MM2 and browse
to the new location (where you saved the files)
and allow MM2 to recognize them.

Yes. Sorry I wasn't clear enough in my original response. You have to have
access to the original source files, (either through a network share or
direct access on the new PC) the project files are just bookmarks that tell
moviemaker what to do with your files. If you no longer have access to the
files the bookmarks don't do you any good.
