I forget how to get rid of the colored boxes under the shortcuts on my
desktop. At this moment I have them blue but I want to make the color non
existant so that's it just shows the text and no color.

From a post by Malke:

To have transparent icons:

1) Hold down the Windows key and press Pause/Break. On the "Advanced" tab,
under "Performance" click "Settings." On the "Visual Effects" tab, make sure
the box "Use drop shadows for icon labels" is checked.

2) Right-click on the Desktop, and make sure that "Arrange Icons by" "Lock
Web items" is not checked.

3) Right-click on the Desktop, and choose Properties. Othe "Desktop" tab,
click "Customize Desktop," then on the "Web" tab, uncheck all boxes.

4) Make sure any Wallpaper is an image file. Html will stop the
transparency.

Ken...

It's not the icons or the dsktop wallpaper I want to make transparent. It's
the colored text box underneath the shortcuts icons that I want cleared of
any color.
I can right click desktop, properties,desktop,color... but I don't want ANY
color in that box. Any ideas?

Yes. Do as I suggested above in number 1. If I'm understanding you
correctly, it will do what you want.

No apology necessary from you, Ken -- your attribution was made in good faith.

My apologies to Malke for the gender reassignment -- I guess seeing "...elephantboycomputers..." in the sig made me unconsciously assume a male.

At least I know Kelly is a she!!! :)

I turned Narrator on and they appeared. Turned it off and they went.
