The backgrounds of the drop down menus in Windows XP
Professional have become transparent and I would like to
change them back to opaque. How do I do this?

If you have an Nvidia video card, check the Control
Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced/nView/Desktop Manager. If you have the
proper drivers, there should be a setting there that you can change.
