Other than using colored text on the same color background, is there another
way to make text tranparent, clear, or invisible?

What is the purpose of invisible text?

If it is to fool robots / spiders, beware: they are
continuously being upgraded to learn the tricks, and when
found they drop you like a rock. I know of a few sites that
went from page 1 on google back to about page 32

Yes it has. Abuse of this is right up there with keyword
spamming

That's the way to do it, but if you're doing it because you think it will
help with search engine positioning, you're very mistaken. It's more likely
to get your site banned from search engines for spamming. They've known
about that trick for years now and have been penalizing for it for a long
time.

You can also use:
<!--webbot bot="PurpleText"
PREVIEW="Your site description"
-->
to insert invisible comments on your page. Handy for the SEs.

They won't see it.
