I am confused as to make a colour transparent. I follwed he instructions in
help but I do not know what to do after clicking 'set transparent colour' and
place the pointer over the colour I require to make transparent and clicking
it. Am I missing something?

The transparency wand only sets one color transparent. That means, for
example, it sets transparent only the white pixels with RGB values
255/255/255. If you have white pixels with values 255/255/254 or anything
that is not exactly 255/255/255, those pixels won't be made transparent.
This is pretty common in photographs -- what seems white to our eye is
really made up of a lot of pixels of varying shades of white. (Same for
black and all other colors.)

The upshot is, it may not be anything you're doing, but rather, it's the
picture itself. If the transparency wand isn't helping, you'll need to open
the image in an image editor and make the transparent areas transparent
there. Then save as PNG to maintain the transparency and use
Insert|Picture|From File to reinsert it into your PPT file.

I found a diagram in Encarta that I need to use in my Physiology assignment,
and have copied/pasted it into powerpoint. However, the diagram already
comes with arrows including descriptions at the end, which I need to remove.
