We want to make durable equipment stickers/labels that will last a couple or
five years on typical baked enamel finishes on appliances, such as ovens or
freezer cabinets.

Does anyone supply/sell transparency film with adhesive, sometimes called
decals perhaps, for printing such in a laser printer? We would cut various
custom styles and labels from standard, say 8-1/2" x 11", stock.

Does such work OK? Surely somebody is doing this in-house! Thanks!

Not sure about a laser printer but they work in an inkjet...

Best if you spray them with a clear acrylic after mounting.

Or better yet, cover your decal with an unprinted one slightly larger.

I have no experence with clear decals, but on a regular basis I use
Hammermill "indoor sign labels" (premium photo gloss finish) and just
recently bought their "outdoor labels (premium matte finish)".
#19111-0 (indoor 15 pack) and 10428-0 (outdoor 6 pack). I would
seriously avoid lasers on this stuff, not that i've tried but I think
it would melt. I use them for CD labels on odd ball cases that don't
have a place for an inlay.

I've also used 100u white self adhesive film from Canson. I sprayed the
whole metal panel with clear acrylic after fitting the labels. The only
problem I've had is outdoors on a sign. Rain caused the acrylic to
delaminate from the panel around the edges. Kept dry they work well and look
great.
