Transferring stuff from old floppy onto my computer

I have a floppy disk which contains a considerable amount
of stuff. I had a very basic Samsung word processor about
7 years ago which I was using with this floppy disc and
now want to transfer the contents of the floppy disk onto
my computer.

I've managed to access the files via the file conversion
screen, have succeeded in downloading the text, but have
got weird stuff like this:

..²Don't²misunderstand²me:²I²do²not²mean²in²a²spiteful²ºI
ºway.²It²'s²just²that²Cindy²could²sometimes²be²a²bit²of²po
wer²freak.²º

I've opened the file using Word. I've tried the other
programs but I am unable to get rid of the weird stuff(
ie the 2s and Os).

Any ideas how I can get rid of the weird stuff?

I see. Any chance you could expand. Just a little too
enigmatic for me, and being a newbie, I didn't quite
understand all the technical jargon.

Copy your documents from the floppy to a directory on your computer.
Open one of them with Microsoft Word again.
Either press CTRL+H or...
From the menu at the top choose "Edit".
From the drop down choose "Replace".
Then type in the "strange character" in the "Find What" field.
Then type in space (just a space) in the "Replace With" field.
Click on the word Replace to see if it finds and replaces the right thing.
If satisfied, click on "Replace ALL".

Save the new document.
