I am to receive a new laptop from my company soon. What is the best (defined
as fastest and most thorough) way to transfer all my programs and data to
the new laptop? I have lots of programs that I would rather not have to
re-install. The one caveat is I am upgrading all my office programs with the
new computer. Would it make sense to use a program like True Image from
Acronis, Inc. to create an image of my current hard drive?

Thanks,

This may help: How to Move a Windows XP Installation to Different
Hardware" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314070).

Like previously mentioned you can use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard
to move your settings and data files but any programs will have to be
reinstalled.

I didn't mention the programs as they are ridiculously easy to load on to a CD for future reinstalls. right click and then click send to and then your cd drive. Oops too easy eh?
