Hi all,

I have installed Vista but I didnt do an upgrade but rather a fresh
instalation. Now I want to transfer my messages from OE6 from another machine
into Windows Mail, and cant find a way to do it. Initially I thought I just
needed to copy the store folder but that doesnt seem to be the case anymore.

Thanks in advance for your help,

DC

If you have the "complete" store folder, copied to a folder on your hard
drive and have checked that none of the DBX files have a Read-Only attribute
set (as they will if you copied them to a CD), the import should work w/o
problem. Open Windows mail, click File/Import Messages, select OE6 and From
a Message Store and point to the folder on your computer that contains all
of the DBX files. Note that you must have the original Folders.DBX file
from the old message store folder, or the import will fail.

While in the earlier folder, it could possibly have had a permissions
problem which was resolved by moving the files to a folder on the users
Desktop. In any case, it worked and the problem is now fixed. Thanks for
the feedback.

Thanks Jim,

That worked just fine. However when I tried it before it wasnt working, the
only difference it was that I had the folder saved inside the Windows public
folder and it kept on failing, this time i had the folder saved on my
desktop and worked well. Could that be the reason why it didnt work before?

Hi folks, just giving my 2c as I also had some trouble importing from OE6
DBX to WM. I'm not sure if it's a bug or just me doing something wrong, but
it seems that when I browse with the import mail wizard to the folder
containing DBX files, the deepest folder (i.e. the one containing DBX files
that you select before clicking "Next") gets its name duplicated once. So if
my DBX files are in C:\Outlook when I browse to this folder it tries to
import from C:\Outlook\Outlook and fails every time, unless I manually
remove the phantom folder before clicking "Next". Strange huh?

This is WM in Vista RTM.

Rgds,

A Jones.

I've see a similar error and it's always been associated with a "hurry-up"
click that seems to cause it. I've set this machine up to take action on
single clicks, but still find myself occasionally adding an extra click that
causes that problem.
