Amy
I have a new PC with WinXP home edition and an old PC
with Win2000 Pro and want to transfer some files from the
old PC to the new one by means of direct parallel cable.
It was relatively easy to set up a connection between the
two computers, but getting any file sharing has so far
proven beyond me.
I have tried to implement the instructions in the
series "How to Configure a Direct Cable Connection with
Windows XP Home Edition" (except for parts 6 and 7, which
don't seem relevant in my case). The articles are from
the Microsoft Knowledge Base and are numbered from 814981
to 814988.
When I try the Run command in the new PC with the name of
the old PC and the share name of a folder on it
(\\computer name\share name), I get an error message
saying that the network path was not found.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you in anticipation.
