transferring emails from old computer to new computer ??

This shouldn't be this difficult, but 2 calls to Dell
tech support & countless wasted hours have led to little
success. I was finally able to get the Address Book
copied to a CD and into the Outlook Express 6 on the new
Dell computer w/ Windows XP. I still can't figure out
how to get all the emails over from the 4 year old Compaq
system running Win. 98. I have over 400 INBOX emails
along w/ over 4,000 SENT emails I want to transfer over.

My email is up & running on the new system w/ high speed
cable; that part was easy. It's just figuring out how to
import/ export that's not as easy to figure out.

Can anyone help? Thanks a bunch!

Open OE on your old machine and look under the "File" menu. You'll see one
entry lets you "export" all your mail. You can do this to a new subdirectory
on your hard disk, or across the network to your new machine if you're set up
for that.

After somehow moving the files to the new machine, use the File/Import
command there to bring them into the new setup.

Presto!
