I am obtaining a new Dell 8300 soon and want to transfer
most of my files, including FS2002, to my new hardrive.
What is the best way, except burn a lot of CD's?

The easiest way to copy a bunch of files from an old PC to
a new PC is to build a network between them. One simple way
is to use a crossover Cat5 (LAN) cable between the NICs of the
two PCs; alternatively, any hub/switch/router with a couple
of standard patch cables can be used instead of the crossover
cable.

Apps are different - apps must be installed under the OS on the
new system, since merely copying the files which are part of an
app will not create the needed entries in the OS's registry.

Alternatively, just install the old drive as a slave, copy
the data you want to save.

If it is data and not apps you want to transfer, you could use the files and
settings transfer wizard:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools

Back
