Transferring Contacts in Outlook 2003

I bought a new computer and set up four user accounts including four Outlook
accounts. I then copied the .pst file from each of the four Outlook accounts
on my old computer to my new computer. Everyone's folders and e-mails
appeared perfectly including the Contacts folder. If I click on the Contacts
folder in anyone's Outlook account, I see all the contacts listed. I saw an
Outlook.pab file in one Outlook account on my old computer and copied it to
the same account on my new computer.

In "Tools->E-mail Accounts->View or change existing directories or address
books", I see Outook Address Book, Type: MAPI listed. In the Contacts folder
properties, the box is checked for "Show this folder as an e-mail address
book."
However, when I click on To: to address an e-mail, I get the following error
message:

"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated
with this address could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or
you do not have permission. For information on how to remove this folder
from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Office Outlook Help."

How can I solve this problem so I can address e-mails? Thanks for your help!

Do not use the PAB file. Outlook has not used one for years.
You have managed to corrupt the connection between the Outlook Address Book
and your Contacts. How did you migrate your PST file?
It is difficult to answer your question when you do not provide your Outlook
version. Read this:

Never mind. I see your version was in the Subject, not the post.
The instructions apply to your version.

Russ,

After nothing else worked, I tried the "brute force" method mentioned in the
link you gave. I removed the address book from the e-mail account and then
added it back again. That fixed the problem.

Thanks for your help, Mark
