I have a mega .pst file that I now cannot open nor import. It came from my previous computer and was saved by a IT contractor who I can no longer find. I am at a new email address and new machine, now running Outlook 2003 - I am not even sure what I was using before and the computer is long gone. When trying to either open or import, the message comes up "File access denied. You do not have permission to access the file ...."

Is this a problem because I am accessing this file from a different email address or is there some password in here that I don't know about or is it a read only file?

O lordy - about 1000 contact numbersand countless emails.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is a simple problem. you need to copy the PST file
from the CD it is on to a harddrive. Then you have to
remove the Read Only attribute. You can do this by right
clicking on the file in Windows Explorer and going to
Properties. From there Read Only is on the lower part of
the first tab.

Thanks,

Fred
