Transferring a file from NTFS volume to FAT32 volume

I have been restoring some Photoshop files to my laptop
(FAT32 volume) from a backup drive in my docking station
(NTFS volume). When trying to move, or access, some of
FAT32 files, I sometimes get a "Sharing Violation". This
happens even when the operation I am attempting is the
first thing I am doing after booting the machine (in other
words, I have not overtly accessed the files with another
program).
Is this problem related to NTFS=>FAT32 or should I be
looking for something else?

This can be a possible cause:

When Windows Explorer tried to create a Preview in the Preview Pane it has
to access the files and depending on the size of the file it can take a
while.

You can try disabling the Web View in Windows Explorer so the files do not
try and get generated.

To remove the preview pane option:

Goto Tools and Folder options and change the active desktop to Use windows
classic desktop

Also change Web View to Use windows classic folders

You will then be able to delete large image files as it will not preview the
image

Hope this helps.

Thanks Karin.
I have already run a "CHKDSK" which seems to have fixed
the problem (for now). I think your solution sounds much
more on target. I'll keep it in mind for the next
occurrence.
