I am trying to transfer the editing capabilities to another computer. Can
anyone help me understand how to do this? I have FrontPage on both computer
but I am new to the program and need a bit of assitance in getting started.

First of all, if you want to transfer ANYTHING from one computer to another,
you need to know how those computers are connected (networked), if at all,
which you haven't mentioned. Second, to transfer a web site from one
computer to another, you need to know whether you're talking about a
file-based web or a server-based web. So, if you can provide the necessary
information, I think we can help.

The tool you want is "Publish". Open the web on the original computer.
Then go to "File, Publish Web".

FrontPage will ask you "where?" You need to be able to give it a share
location on the other computer via a network, or a server running on the
other computer. If you don't have a network, just copy the files to a CD
(publish to desktop, then copy). Copy the CD files onto your new computer,
set the attributes back to "read/write" and open it with FrontPage.

Much easier if you have a server on the new computer though. :)

Kevin,
The computers are not networked. I can do that if it is easier. Second,
how does one determine if it is a file or server-based web?

How does one go about setting up a server?

What operating system are you using?

Then you would use the IIS that comes with it as the server.
http://www.webwizguide.com/asp/tutorials/installing_iis_win2k.asp

Then, you can install/configure the FrontPage Server Extensions.

Well, you need to transfer files from one to the other, so unless they are
networked in some way, you will have to use a thumb drive or some other
removable medium to transfer the files.

A web site is for the most part a collection of folders and files. A
file-based web is a web site that is not hosted on a web server (such as
IIS). If your computers cannot communicate with one another, it isn't going
to make that much difference, as you will have to transfer the files and
folders via some removable medium, and that means that you can't simply
publish the web from one web server to the other.

The trickiest part of a FrontPage web is the server extensions. The server
extensions are not simply files and folders that can be copied from one web
to another. They are a bit more complex than that. So, there are a couple of
steps you will need to follow to transfer the web.

First, make a copy of all the folders and files and copy that to a location
on the new computer. Then use FrontPage's New Web wizard, and select "Import
Web Wizard" to browse to the location of the folders and files and import
them to the new location. This sets up the server extensions correctly.

Ok, I have done this but when the password box comes up and I put the
password and username in that I was given it does not work.

What password box? You're simply importing a bunch of files and folders to a
new web site.

When I go to FrontPage, I click on File-Import-Make sure Import An Exisiting
Web is picked, and then click ok. Then a box pops up that tells me I need a
username and password.

You have to choose File - New Web. Then use the Import Web Wizard to import
the files.
