I have created several databases with some functionality for editing the
data. I now want to transfer the via CD from my computer to another one. I
thought that burning a CD would be the easiest way. However, the files on
the CD are all "read only" files and I can't change their property to
"archive" so they can be used on the second computer. I am sure that there
is something rather simple to do to overcome this but I haven't been able to
find it. Thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

Files on CDs are always read-only. Once you copy the file to the new
computer, you should be able to change the property on the new computer's
hard drive.

Jerry,

Open Windows Explorer, go to the file and right click on the file. Open
properties and uncheck Read Only.

Although not a good thing, nice to know someone else is experiencing the
problem. I've tried to unlock the "Read Only"; unfortunately, it didn't
work. I'll try again tonight and check back tmw. In the meantime, might
there be another remedy?

Well, I tried it again and the same error message appeared:

Error Applying Attributes
An error occurred applying attributes to the file: {filename here}
Access denied.

Any assistance is very much appreciated!
