Upon importing my outlook files from my old computer, I
can't seem to get the new computer's outlook to use them
as default. Aut-complete email addresses dont come up
upon sending em, and calendar reminders don't come up.
New deleted em's don't go to my old archives, and
my "sent" em list is virgin. How do I get the new outlook
to default to my old database? This should be obvious.
Help.

Post your Outlook version.
Post how you did the "import."
In general, importing is a poor way to transfer Outlook data. Just copy and
configure Outlook to reuse the PST file from the old installation.

Outlook version 2002. Imported from FILE, IMPORT/EXPORT.
Question is how do you configure Outlook to reuse my
LARGE .pst file? Steps?
Bobby.

.

- Go to Tools > Options > Mail Setup > Data Files > Add...
- Add the PST you'd like as your new default, then Close > OK to exit the
Options dialog
- Go to Tools > E-mail Accounts > View or change existing e-mail accounts
- Select the PST you just added in the "Deliver New e-mail to the following
location" dropdown (it will most likely appear just below the current
default Personal Folders file) > Finish
- Exit and Restart Outlook
- You can now close the previous default PST (R-click on that pst folder
while in Folder View and select "Close <foldername> Folders"). If you have
any information in your former PST that you'd like to transfer to your new
default PST, you can drag and drop from one to the other before you close
the old one.

Thanks, Russ that was helpful...By the way is there any
way to get my outgoing e-mail addresses to "auto-
complete" as I type them out in the new Outlook, like
they used to do in the old?

It will eventually, but you will first have to populate the autocompletion
cache by sending messages from the new profile.

Depend on your Outlook version (which you didn't important enough to
include), but the idea is to open the old file, change the main delivery
location to that file, and then move any messages, calendar items, etc. from
the new pst file to the old, then close the new file. Your old one will now
be the main (and only) delivery location and any reminders, deletes, etc.
will take place in that file. Outlook reminds you of events only from the
main delivery location.

Thank you Brian, you are the man!
It worked perfectly in Outlook 2003.
I have a question about a maximal size of the .pst file, any limits here?

Please don’t reply to the address above — it’s a spam trap. If you want to
send me a message you can do it via any of my sites below.

OL 2003 PSTs can be VERY large, more than 20 Gb.
