I just purchased a new computer with XP Small Office
(Outlook 2002). I have an old computer with XP
Professional (Outlook 2002). I would like to transfer my
outlook data, (addresses, saved e-mails, etc.) from my
old computer to my new computer. Both computers are on a
home network. Is there a way to do this?

Thanks!

All your mail, contacts, calendar, etc can be moved to the new PC by locating a file named Outlook.pst by default (it could have a different name, but will end in PST). The file will be too large to fit on a floppy, so you'll need to burn it on CD, transfer it over the network (if avaiable), or put the old hard drive in the new computer and copy it to the new drive. If you burn it onto CD make sure and remove the "Read Only" attribute after you copy off the CD.

The following links provide details on the PST file, moving it, and configuring you new Outlook client to access the old PST file.

Create a share on one of the computers that the other can see and copy into
it the pst file from the old computer (you'll need to enable hidden files
and folders to see it) to the new computer. Next, place it in the flder
where you want it to permanently reside (Default is "C:\Documents and
Settings\{username}\Locat Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook").
Then, in the Mail applet in Control Panel, modify your profile to use the
pst file you copied. Open Outlook on the new system and there you have it.
