I am trying to import my email in the inbox from one hard drive to another
the older hard drive has an older version of outlook express than the new
hard drive. Any suggestions?

Thanks Tim

Hiya Tim,

I find it easier to just create a folder on the desktop select all the
messages you want to keep, then just drag them into that folder, then burn it
to a disc. Then you can just drag them into the folder on WM on the new
computer from the disc.

The reason I say this is because I've once before I've lost all my important
mail when using the import export feature. I had to format my pc due to a
serious virus, so I used the export feature to save all my important mail.
It stated that it was done, but when I then tried to import the mail it had
errors and wouldn't import.

I also had a simular problem using vista's transfer programme.

Anyway I'm babling... doing it this way all headers ect are retained in the
email.

Kind regards,
Linda

Oh a P.S note here, there's also a great piece of free software that I'd
suggest downloading called. MailStore Home. It will archive a copy of the
folders you wish to keep safe, so that you can re-install any lost mail. It
will also burn them to disc if you need to move them. Here's the link to
download.

Kind Regards,
Linda

We don't know what you mean...
Do you want to import from an older version of OE, like OE 5...
I believe you have to import from the older version into OE 6, before you
can import from OE6 to WM.

See www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx

Also, if you have a different message store on another drive, just use File
| Import | Messages.

You can also drag eml files overtop a folder in OE or WinMail and drop them
and they will become incorporated into that folder.
