i wish to explore the possibility of removing a hard
drive (with windows xp) from one computer into another,
completely differant system. Is this possible? where can
I find instructions?

Won't work. Windows XP is tied to the motherboard, cpu, chipset, etc of
whatever system it was originally installed on.

Be prepared to do a Repair Installation. See www.dougknox.com, Win XP Tips, How to do a Repair Installation. XP will rarely move from one motherboard, chipset and etc. and even boot without a repair installation.

Nope, it will not work. Even if you make a Ghost image
it will blue screen, Unless the hardware is identical
from one PC to the next that means the mother board all
installed hardware.
A clean install is better anyway.

Yes, it is. I have done it here, more than once. No instructions needed.
Place the drive in and boot.

Note: If you have another system you may want to consider making this
drive, slave on that one and making a copy onto an external drive, which can
be used either way.

Good luck!
