Transfer Word Documents to Works

I had Micro Works with the Professional package, but thought it was separate
and deleted the whole thing. It then switched all of my word and spreadsheet
documents to Word Pad.

I have now installed Microsoft Works (which is much more family friendly)
and would like to have my old documents back the way they were. (word and
spreadsheet)

Is this possible or should I accept defeat??

I do not understand your question.
Your subject made sense - like you wanted to take a Microsoft Word document
and open it in Microsoft Works...
Then you said you had Microsoft Works Professional (which comes with
Microsoft Word - correct) and you uninstalled it - and then you started
using Word Pad (built into Windows XP) and now you installed Microsoft Works
(again? or is this not the Professional version with Microsoft Word?) and
you want to know how to open the Word Documents?

Can you be a little clearer with names of software packages and versions and
what you have passed through, arrived at and want to do? heh

Right click one of your documents
Choose "Open with.."
Select "Choose Program.."
Choose "Works" or "Words" (Whatever you are saying in the question)
Tick "Always use..." > Click OK
