Steve

I am currently using Outlook Express 6 for my emails. My
old computer is dying, and I have a new laptop. I want
to transfer the contents of my inbox, sent items, etc. to
my new computer. The only thing I see that looks like it
might do what I want is Export, but that seems to only be
useful for exporting folders to Outlook, which is not
what I'm trying to do. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Steve,

If nothing else, you should be able to export to text file ( commaseparated)
which your new PC should be able to import....

Another option is to transfer folders between the two, if you can.
The location can differ, but I think the defaults are these (98SE).
For the address book:
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book - copy the .wab files at
least ( Windows Address Book)....
You messages :
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{...}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
The {...} is one of the "identities" you had in OE - in a kind of
Hexadecimal presentation (numbers and A through F).
Or they may be in a subfolder to C:\Program Files\Outlook Express, if you
have updated from earlier versions of OE.
You need all the files from this folder. You should be able to identify the
names of your mail folders in OE as names of files in this folder (
Inbox.dbx for instance... )

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me directly.
