Hello

We write information from a software program to pcmcia memory cards
via a USB card reader. The time to create the cartridge under windows
XP is about 5 times longer than Windows 2000, all other things being
equal. The card reader is a USB 1.x device. Does anyyone here have
suggestions as to why that will take longer on XP? We have tried
different card readers and different memory media.

Thank you

If you are sure reader is 1.1 usb and not 2.0,the only
explanation I would have is XP is backwards reading from
2.0 to 1.1 and it just takes longer to read, but 5x slower
seems to be a long time. Are you sure 2000 is not reading
at 480 and XP at 12mb?

Thank you for the reply.. Neither system is coming close to the 480
MBs transfer speed. If you remove our software from the loop and just
copy from the computer to the USB card reader, Windows 2000 is
quicker. I do not think that W2K is reading at 480 and XP 12, but I
am not exactly sure where to check. I think I have covered all bases,
but I may not have

thank you
