Transfer Outlook from old laptop to new

I can find the Office 2000 Outlook files in my Windows '97
based laptop, but cannot transfer to external harddrive.

My goal is to load all of Outlook data onto a new laptop,
equipped with Office XP.

Can someone direct me to directions of how to? Thanks!
