I will be buying new laptop, and will need to transfer files from old P3,
667MHz with XP-Pro with USB1 only. I was advised to use Easy transfer cable.
Will this cable work with USB1?? I am suspicious, as when I tried to connect
outside hard drive specified for USB2 to my USB1, it didnt work- I managed to
get files to the outside hard drive, but I cant read them now, and no way of
updating it. Would it be better to set up network for the transfer of files?
MOstly music and photos. Thanks in advance for your help.

If both machines have network cards it would be much faster to use that
option with a crossover cable, file transfer via USB 1.1 is extremely slow
for large amounts of data. In general, USB 2.0 devices are backwards
compatible and "should" work with a USB 1.1 port.

Thanks you both, David and Jack. I will try to buy new laptop next week, and
then try your suggestions. I will let you know how it go.Mirek.
