I have not been able to complete a simple hard disk files transfer exercise
using Windows XP Home Edition. The documentation speaks of easily being able
to transfer data from hard drive to hard drive, but all I have found so far
is restricted to "old computer" and "new computer" identities that seem to
require much preparation and file identification which ultimately leads only
to frustration.

What procedure would I follow to install another hard drive for example ? I
have tried many different approaches to this simple tassk with no success.

What am I missing ?

Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

Files and Settings Transfer Wizard: F.A.S.T.

Or do you mean putting in a new hard drive and taking the ENTIRE system to
that drive?
Most retail hard drives come with utilities to help you with this. There is
nothing built into WIndows (any version) to help with a full transfer
(perhaps "Backup", but that would be pushing it.) You could look into
imaging products like "Symantec Ghost" and the likes.
