Hi Guys

Asking this question on behalf of a friend at work
He has an old Laptop running windows 2000 and a new pc running XP sp2, how
can he transfer files, etc from his old laptop( floppy only) to his new PC..
Any ideas???

Thanks for your help

Several options, a network card (NIC) is probably in both
computers, use a crossover cable or connect both computers
to an Ethernet hub and do a simple network.
There are adapters that allow the installation of a 2-1/2
inch laptop hard drive in a desktop computer also.

Very important is, how much data has to be transferred? Options:
1 network cards (NIC) connection:
http://libweb.hawaii.edu/uhmlib/libinfo/Laptopconnect.htm
2 USB to USB datalink connection or use an USB datastick or buy an external
HD/USB cable.
I used this one once
http://us.st11.yimg.com/store1.yimg.com/I/meritline_1882_80053721 & some old
HD's
3 Parallel / serial port connection
4 Zip the files and use email, within the limitations of the mailaccount or
get Gmail (about 2 GB)

If there is not too much data, and both computers have USB ports, your
friend could buy a 256 MB USB flash card for about $15. That's equivalent to
over 200 floppies.
