hi ... had a computer crash with my 1997 outlook emails and contacts ... have
been able to transfer it to an external hard-drive ... now, do not know how
to transfer those files to 2003 outlook on new computer ... if anyone can
help, it would be oh soh appreciated ... thanks in advance ... regards/richard

In what form are the files stored on the external hard drive? How are you
able to access them?

hi william ... thanks for the quick reply ... the files are stored on the
external hard drive ... not really a computer expert here so hopefully can
answer your questions ... had all files from my old computer transfered to a
new external hard drive ... the outlook files are located in a folder called
back up ... if i click on back up, can see the folder for outlook ... if i
then click on the outlook folder, several other files show up ... don't know
what all the extensions mean, but some are dbx file, some are office date
files ... if this doesn't answer your question, pls advise and will try to
get you whatever info you need, ok ?

again, really appreciate anything you can do to help and thanks for taking
the time out for me !

regards/richard

The DBX files are Outlook Express files and have nothing to do with Outlook.
The Outlook Data Files are the ones you want. Open Outlook and then click
File>Open>Outlook Data File. Browse to the PST (data file) you want to
open, select it, and click OK.
