transcode mpeg2 file

I'm trying to transcode an mpeg2 file

The file is 6 GB long, and I'm trying to get it down to 4 GB

I want to do to a *.mpg file what dvd shrink does to *vob files on the
dvd

Refjig is close, bit it does video only

Can anyone help

Does the end result have to be a .mpg file?
An .avi file using the XVID or DIVX codecs can be as small as you want.
Both are MPEG-4, much more efficient than MPEG2.

And you can do this with VirtualdubMOD

Thank you for the tip... but yes it does have to be mpeg2. My
standalone dvd players require it
