I have created an PPTP connection from my Win2000 client
(IP-A)to a Win2000 Adv Server (IP-B). The IP addresses of
the tunnel endpoints are IP-C and IP-C. All addresses are
on the same subnet, but I am unable to ping IP-B or IP-D
(server side) from the client side. The opposite is true
for the Server side, unable to ping IP-A and IP-C from the
server. I am, however, able to ping a different subnet
being routed through the Server. Shouldn't I be able to
ping the Gateway (IP-B) from the client? I suspect a
configuration problem with the Routing and Access on the
Server. Any suggestions??

Thanks,

Pat

Make sure you are pinging the right addresses as shown by the IP addresses issued in
the VPN connection in status details. The IP addresses shown for client and server
need to be different. Also check there is no firewall, ipsec filtering, or Remote
Access policy IP filtering blocking ICMP access to those addresses. Tracert can also
be helpful in showing where there is a bottleneck in a routed connection. --- Steve
