These groups are not staffed by Microsoft. There are a couple of Microsoft
staff who appear her occasionally, but they are related to the Microsoft
Antispyware program, gnerally.
The MVP's and other regular posters are volunteers. We can sometimes ensure
that Microsoft is made aware of a given problem, but we can't ensure
authoritative responses.
FWIW, I've seen the issue (office 97 cited when it was never installed on a
given machine) mentioned before in another group. I don't have a
resolution--I think Robin Walker's explanation is quite likely.
This is an unusual beta. The beta1 code is largely as inherited when the
original developer was purchased by Microsoft. Beta2 will look quite
different, I believe--so if we can't resolve your question for beta1, hold
on to it, and check it early when beta2 appears. At the moment, the focus
of the developers is on beta2, rather than fixes to issues with beta1. If a
problem carries over into beta2, that's when we'll need to provide clear
feedback that something needs to be fixed.

OK, Robin, no need to be pedantic!
I wrote "...Office\8.0 etc" to shorten a very long
filepath. Since you don't seem to be sure, perhaps you
could ask an Office specialist and get back to me?
Thanks and cheers!

"Show only available erasable tracks" lists "Office97
Recent Files, registry key contents..Office\8.0 etc."
The only Office files I have loaded onto my machine,
which I bought secondhand, is Office Pro 2003
(Office11)
and the only system folder refers to Office11. Should I
remove this Tracks Eraser item,
I would not be surprised if all subsequent versions of
Office used many of
the same settings as Office 8.0/97, so it probably
refers to your Office as
installed. It does say "8.0 etc" to make that point.
