Can anyone out there supply information on how to track
the usage of application by secondary school students
when they are logged on to a school network. The tracking
must be for every application that they have accessed,how
long they used the application,the date,the time, and the
tracking logs must be kept for approx: one year for
OFSTED inspection. This is a tall order!

Crude solution: store apps on shared servers and enable
auditing of the files so all access is logged.

More elegant solution: install app (such as SMS client) on
all machines which can launch apps and use app (SMS) to
keep track of apps usage and licence count (if required).

Various vendors offer solutions in this space - working in
education however, may mean some are out of scope from a
budget perspective
