hello, just installed trackerv3 to try it out but when i try to run it
i get the message:

The dynamic link library gdiplus.DLL could not be found in the
specified path C:\ProgramFiles\TrakerV3;.;C\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS\system;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\system32;C:\WINDOWS\system32\WBEM.

Unfortunatly i fall under the catagory of Newbee when it comes to IT
and would really apreciate some advise on getting past this
problem......

many thanks in advance....Al

That means that you will have to download the DLL from somewhere else,
and to install it in one of the directories specified above.

You can download the DLL from
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?gdiplus

It is possible that other DLLs are missing; so you may have to repeat
the process for other DLLs. It's a case of "suck it and see". You will
be able to locate other DLLs at the site I mentioned above.

BTW, I discovered the existence of the DLL by typing it into Google;
which is hopefully a useful tip.

I have also tried it - very impressed - however, it does not list my
floppy drive - it can send to it, via right click, but will not find
any way to see the drive and list contents etc

puzzling

Sorry, I am unable to help. I had only played with trackerv3 quite some
time ago, and then only very briefly.

My interest lies mainly in dual-pane file managers. The recent ones I
have tried have been: FreeCommander, Turbo Navigator, and xplorer2 lite.
My favourite out of the 3 is definitely FreeCommander.

Configuration {F9}/General/Show floppy drives

Donald

PS: the option to hide floppies exists because many people just don't use
those drives anymore.

Go to
http://www.trackerv3.com/download.htm
and look at the bottom of the page under 'Dependencies'. There are
instructions for installing gdiplus.DLL and a link to Microsoft for
downloading the DLL plus a warning about installing it in the system
folder.

This all assumes that you are not using Windows XP.

Good luck

Go to Configuration on the Tools Menu and on the General tab tick 'Show
Floppy Drives.

Good luck.

Thanks to both yourself and the other poster

It is now a keeper :-)

Can you or anyone else say a bit more about the other two
filemanagers (Turbo Navigator and xplorer2 lite) which you are not
so keen on.

I tried their web sites but there were no screenshots and not much
info about the actual software.

Don't really want to install them and then unistall them a few days
later 'cos they may meave behind debris in my already-clogged
registry!

Tools -> Configuration -> General, check first item.

I spent a while with Turbo Navigator and ended up disliking it. I forget
the main reason now, but there was a quirk in file moving that ended up
being more than I was prepared to put up with.
Xplorer2 lite is currrently my absolute favourite file manager out of
those I have tried, and I have tried quite a few. It is very fast and
intuitive and configurable. I have yet to fault it.

Pablo Commander is about somewhere and is probably the fastest I have
tried. Very small file size, no tree view option, worth a look.
